Russia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ), has started production of the latest models of the Sadko NEXT off-road truck. We were able to try the off-road prowess of the Sadko 3308 in Pinatubo and now there seems to be a huge update for the Sadko model. The GAZ Sadko NEXT now comes with a longer wheelbase version (C41A43) and a 7-seater double cab version (C42A43).
“We always try to respond to our customer requests and design the products which meet the needs of each and every market. The new Sadko NEXT modifications make our export product offers really attractive,” said GAZ global business development director Leonid Dolgov.
From the standard Sadko’s 3-seater capacity, the GAZ Sadko NEXT now comes with the C42A43 version which seats 7. The cargo passenger version of the Russian off-road truck comes with a double cabin body. Making the Sadko NEXT more versatile, the rear seats of the double cab version are folding and could be folded into a bed. Extra storage are also available under the seats.
“With the new double cabin the truck can be used in various businesses, farming and agriculture, social and municipal operations. This year we’ll start exporting our new Sadko NEXT with a 7-seat cabin in addition to the single-cabin version launched last year,” furthered Dolgov.
There is also a new single-cabin version with a longer 4515 mm wheelbase from the previous 3770 mm making the truck longer, from 6530 mm to 7290 mm. The chassis carrying capacity is also now up to 2.95 tons for the long wheelbase, single cabin and up to 2.77 tons for the long wheelbase double cabin. The new extended frame is designed and made in-house delivering its durability and reliability.
With the these latest updates on the Sadko Next, more special applications can be designed for the Sadko. The longer wheelbase means that there can be large superstructures like crane manipulators, lifts, maintenance and repair equipment that can be installed on the cargo platform while keeping enough space to take some cargo. Currently the Sadko has versions of bus trucks, dump trucks, mobile repair trucks, fire trucks, tower trucks and cranes. The possibility of using a power take-off both on the gearbox and on the transfer case allows installing a winch and a large number of special superstructures at the same time.
The Sadko Next is a new generation of GAZ medium-duty trucks. Carrying the good off-road traits of its predecessors, the GAZ Sadko Next comes with good body geometry for superb off-road performance, high ground clearance, step-down gear and differential lock for front and rear axles, and a tire inflation system. The new Sadko comes with a big and comfortable NEXT cabin which comes standard with an air-suspended anatomical driver seat.
Powering the Sadko Next is the highly flexible YaMZ-534 diesel engine that packs astounding torque making the Sadko Next a dependable crawler. Along with the recent updates is the engine’s maximum power which now outputs 149 hp and has a maximum torque of 490 Nm.
The integrated steering together with a new front suspension with thin leaf springs provides Sadko Next with good handling, smooth ride and stability. The fully pneumatic brake system ensures efficient braking requiring a little force on the brake pedal. The air can also be used for various superstructures, to inflate tires and for connecting the braking system of a trailer.
Thanks to the reinforced frame, new drivetrain, upgraded disk, beefed up tires, and axles with new steering knuckles, the Sadko Next now has increased payload capacity without sacrificing reliability and durability.
The list of options includes an additional 95-l fuel tank, a winch, a snorkel, an additional heater and an AC system. A spring-mounted driver seat (adjustable depending on weight), power windows and heated mirrors are standard.
