The Auto Nation Group, Inc. (ANG) officially launched the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the country. Now in its seventh-generation, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class aims to shape the next generation of contemporary and individual mobility with innovations that focus on people. With its latest innovations, the new S-Class is more thoughtful to its passengers. More in tune with its driver and everyone inside the car, more protective of those within or even near its elegant presence.

“The new S-Class has undergone the most extensive refinement process in the history of Mercedes-Benz,” says Mr. Frankie Ang, Chief Operating Officer at Auto Nation Group, Inc. “The brand did to the new S-Class what it does best – putting the customers in the center. It can now be experienced with all the senses – seeing, feeling, hearing, and smelling – while offering impressive innovations in the areas of driver assistance, protection, and interaction.

Exterior

Continuing its legacy as a design icon for the full-size premium luxury sedan segment, the latest S-Class carries design innovations that perfectly embody elegance and sophistication. One of the changes is its dimension. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sports a longer bonnet with shorter overhang, longer wheelbase, flowing C-pillar, and balanced rear overhang.

The seventh-generation S-Class follows Mercedes-Benz’s design philosophy of ‘sensual purity’ in its most modern form. Upfront, the S-Class features a more streamlined design. Highlight of the new fascia is the Digital Light Headlights with its ‘three-dot-design.’ Looking at it from the side, the long wheelbase and AMG Design line emphasize the luxurious character of the S-Class which perfectly complemented by the set of 21-inch multi-spoke AMG wheels. Another distinct update in the 2022 S-Class is its seamless door handles which automatically extend upon approaching the car and retract once locked.

Stunning details are also present at the S-Class’ rear. Giving a more modern appeal to the exquisite latest S-Class are the new two-piece horizontal taillamps, with a pleasing 3D-like display, sequential indicator lamps, two visible exhaust tail tips, and a rear diffuser.

Interior

Stepping inside the 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, it is evident that the German marque aims to set another benchmark of luxury with the latest iteration of the S-Class. Most of the new S-Class’ interior is wrapped in exclusive Nappa Leather with elegant diamond pattern accents on its seats. Rear passengers are treated to power reclining seats, leg rest and a massager.

The new S-Class features a more intuitive version of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). The latest S-Class brings the MBUX to each passenger at the back with its high-end rear seat entertainment system and two fully integrated 11.6-inch touch displays that are paired with Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers and a total system output of 710 watts.

The MBUX can also be controlled by touch through the MBUX rear tablet just in the arm rest or simply say “Hey Mercedes” and command tasks such as adjust the climate control, roll up sun shades, or even ask for a massage. The new S-Class has been made more interactive than ever in the new S-Class. Also, refrigerated compartment by the arm rest can keep drinks cold.

The new S-Class also has Active Ambient Lighting which provides a serene ambiance to suit each passenger’s mood while on the move with lights strips that appear almost out of nowhere, and are conspicuously located in the instrument panel which continues along the doors, and into the rear. Aside from ambient lighting, it is also used for passenger safety by showing visual warnings of any danger around the vehicle.

Driving the new S-Class provides luxury as much as being chauffeured in one. The 12.3-inch OLED touchscreen is the centerpiece of the S-Class’ cockpit. It has a host of driver assistance systems such as the Active Distance Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Parking Assist, and a whole lot more that make for a semi-autonomous driving experience for the driver. Everything is about minimalism and ease of use.

Driving performance

Powering the 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is an 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine that has an EQ Boost mild-hybrid system that is rated to output 435 horsepower and 520 Nm torque. All power are transferred to all wheels via the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and 9-speed automatic transmission. Drive selection can be controlled by the DIRECT SELECT gear lever located just by the steering wheel.

Adding to the driving dynamics, five different driving modes can be selected with the DYNAMIC SELECT switch. The new S-Class still comes with the AIRMATIC air suspension helping to react sensitively to the unevenness of roads.

Safety features

The new S-Class sets a benchmark in automotive safety with its intelligent rear seat airbag for frontal impacts. The new S-Class is equipped with a range of innovative safety and assistance systems. It also features all-round monitoring of vehicle surroundings by the new PRE-SAFE Impulse system.

Perfect in this time of pandemic, the S-Class also features leveled up cabin protection with air filtration and ionizations. New S-Class passengers can breathe in clean and fragrant air while in the cabin.
