The new Aerox is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve SOHC, four-stroke, fuel-injected engine equipped with Yamaha’s VVA system (Variable Valve Actuation). This powertrain transfers the power to the wheel via a CVT system. The new Aerox also received an upgraded cylinder head sporting a compact combustion chamber for higher compression ratio along with a wider intake valve for stronger intake efficiency. Handling characteristics were also improved by fine-tuning the engine mounting angle and suspension link length. Better straight-line stability was also achieved thanks to the new Aerox’s longer trail.

The LED headlight and position lights were improved with better light projection and designed to complete the whole super sports concept. The new Aerox’s taillights was also redesigned and now consists 12 compact and densely situated LEDs giving off a 3D appearance. The digital instrument panel has been redesigned as well for better reading convenience as well as to adapt the new Y-Connect system in the new Aerox. Instrument panel switch is now positioned on the handlebars to select display information between fuel gauge, voltmeter, oil trip meter, and others. The Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system has been carried over to the new Aerox which allows quiet engine starts and re-starts.

Riding comfort has been improved thanks to the new Aerox’s redesigned seat. Footboards were also redesigned for comfortable forward-leaning riding position. The new Aerox still utilizes the same wide tubeless tire size of 110/80-14 up front and 140/70-14 at the rear.
