BYD Sealion 5 DM-i enters the Philippine market

BYD Cars Philippines, under ACMobility, announces the arrival of the new Sealion 5 DM-i, a compact electrified SUV built for practical, daily use. Targeted at first-time car owners and young professionals, the Sealion 5 DM-i brings a compelling mix of long-range capability, smart technology, and everyday usability to the entry-level hybrid segment.

Powered by BYD’s Super DM-i system, the Sealion 5 DM-i pairs a high-efficiency gasoline engine with a 12.96 kWh Blade Battery. The system delivers a combined output of 197 PS and 300 Nm of torque, allowing for brisk acceleration and smooth transitions between electric and hybrid power. Drivers can choose from Economy, Normal, or Sport modes depending on their needs, with a total driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers on a full charge and tank.

“The Sealion 5 DM-i is a strategic addition to our growing electrified portfolio. It is a well-rounded, value-oriented SUV that brings Super DM-i technology within reach of more Filipino drivers,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “It combines the functionality of an everyday vehicle with the sustainability and efficiency benefits of an electrified powertrain.”

In an endurance drive organized with the Automobile Association Philippines, seasoned racers George and Louis Ramirez drove the Sealion 5 DM-i through a 1,409.7-kilometer journey around the Luzon Loop. The vehicle achieved 25.273 km/l efficiency, surpassing its projected fuel economy figures and completing the route on a single full charge and fuel tank.

Practicality extends beyond the powertrain. The Sealion 5 DM-i features V2L functionality to power electronics or small appliances on the go, making it ideal for road trips and emergencies. AC charging at up to 3.3 kW enables a full battery recharge in roughly 4.5 hours.

Inside, the SUV offers a premium experience, with leather seating, dual-zone climate control, and a 10.1-inch rotating infotainment screen. Integrated with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the BYD Store, the interface supports multiple third-party applications. Smart features like NFC card entry, multiple USB ports, push-start ignition, and the BYD Cloud system with OTA updates are also standard.

Safety is a key priority. The Sealion 5 DM-i is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability and traction control, tire pressure monitoring, and hill assist systems, providing full protection for all occupants.

Priced competitively at ₱1,248,000—with a limited-time introductory cash offer of ₱1,198,000 or low down payment terms—the Sealion 5 DM-i is both accessible and cost-efficient. Ownership is further supported by a maintenance schedule that requires only one service per year and long-term warranties: 8 years or 160,000 km for the Blade Battery, 8 years or 150,000 km for the motor and control systems, and 6 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle itself.

Customers can select from four color options—Arctic White, Harbour Grey, Cosmos Black, and Deep Sea Blue—with a refined two-tone beige and brown interior.

“As we continue to expand the BYD product line in the country, the Sealion 5 DM-i exemplifies our goal of delivering electrified mobility that is practical, accessible, and ready for daily life,” said Adam Hu, BYD Philippines Country Head. “This vehicle is a practical gateway into electric driving for more Filipinos.”
