Grab and MOVE IT Launch Typhoon Relief for Drivers and Communities

Grab and Move It Donation mission to typhoon hit communities

The combined impact of typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong, together with the onset of the Southwest Monsoon or “habagat,” has placed much of Metro Manila and its surrounding regions under a state of calamity. Persistent rainfall has left many areas in Luzon, displacing families and disrupting daily life.

Among the hardest hit are TNVS drivers, delivery riders, logistics staff, and their dependents. In response, Grab Philippines and MOVE IT have mobilized comprehensive relief operations aimed at helping their driver and rider communities, as well as the public.

The campaign involves direct aid, financial relief, and donation drives, rolled out in coordination with national government agencies and LGUs to ensure timely assistance. Both companies have reinstated their respective support initiatives, GrabCare and MOVE IT Malasakit, providing emergency relief packages and a one-time financial grant for partner-drivers whose vehicles were damaged by flooding.

Grab is also extending medical assistance by covering emergency room treatment and hospitalization costs for injuries linked to the storm. This is made possible via its partnership with Cocolife, a Filipino-owned insurance company. For those in heavily affected regions like Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Baguio, a temporary freeze on loan repayments to help ease the financial burden as partners begin to rebuild.

Grab’s Emergency Response Unit (ERU) is currently on standby, working closely with local disaster response teams to ensure swift support for both drivers and passengers. Relief coordination with LGUs is also ongoing, including clean-up efforts and food distribution.

Donate your Grab Points to help Typhoon Hit Communities

On the digital front, the GrabBayanihan donation platform has been reactivated, giving app users a way to convert their GrabRewards points into meal donations. These are channeled through McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen and World Vision, with redemption options valued at Php 20, Php 50, and Php 100, equivalent to 60, 150, and 300 points, respectively.

“We stand with the communities most impacted by the recent typhoons,” said Ronald Roda, Managing Director of Grab Philippines. “Our purpose has always been to go beyond transport and delivery. We aim to be there when it truly counts.”

For the record, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has reported flooding in at least 418 locations across Luzon and parts of the Visayas. More than 2,900 barangays and over half a million families have been affected by the storms.
