Grab Philippines and motorcycle taxi platform MOVE IT have teamed up with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to launch #RideToVote, a two-phase campaign focused on voter education and transportation accessibility ahead of the May 12 midterm elections.

The initiative aims to equip voters with essential information and resources while also addressing logistical barriers that may affect voter turnout.

Under the partnership, Grab is utilizing its digital infrastructure — including the Grab superapp, social media platforms, and influencer network — to distribute official COMELEC materials. These include election day checklists, ID reminders, and proper voting guidelines, all designed to help voters make informed decisions at the polls.

“An informed and empowered electorate is the cornerstone of a strong democracy,” said Ronald Roda, Country Head of Grab Philippines. “Through this partnership, we are reinforcing our commitment to support Filipinos not just in their daily lives, but in building a more inclusive and prosperous future.”

Discounted Rides to and from Polling Centers

To further support voter participation, Grab and MOVE IT are offering transport discounts on election day. Grab users can avail of a P50 discount on GrabCar rides from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. by using the promo code RIDETOVOTE. MOVE IT, meanwhile, will provide a P20 discount on motorcycle taxi rides from May 10 to 12 through the promo code BOTONAMI.

In addition, Grab will set up booking assistance stations at 10 high-traffic voting centers in Metro Manila and Cebu. Staffed by trained brand ambassadors, these stations will help voters arrange rides via GrabCar or MOVE IT at reduced fares, offering a reliable and convenient transport solution.

Support for Vulnerable Voter Groups

COMELEC is also implementing Early Voting Hours for senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women. From 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on election day, these groups will be given priority access to polling places to help ease congestion and ensure a more comfortable voting experience.

Grab will provide special promo codes for free rides during the early voting window to registered senior citizens and PWDs on its platform. The codes will be sent via in-app messages and will be fully subsidized by Grab.

COMELEC Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia emphasized the significance of public-private partnerships in promoting democratic engagement. “Safeguarding our democracy is a shared responsibility,” he said. “This collaboration with Grab and MOVE IT addresses tangible obstacles like transportation, particularly for our vulnerable sectors. It sends a clear message: every Filipino voice matters, and we are committed to making the voting process more accessible and inclusive.”

Grab Philippines Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Booey Bonifacio and Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda demonstrate to COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia how Grab users can access election reminders as part of the platform’s #RideToVote campaign.

The #RideToVote campaign underscores the importance of collective action in upholding democratic values and ensuring that all eligible Filipinos can participate meaningfully in the electoral process.
