The Verification Test
The AAP Efficiency Run, recognized as the gold standard in fuel and energy consumption assessments, closely monitored the J7 SHS’ performance under real-world conditions. Unlike conventional tests that prioritize fuel-efficient routes, JAECOO Philippines opted for a more demanding evaluation, encompassing a mix of urban roads, highways, and steep inclines to mirror everyday driving scenarios.
Two J7 SHS units participated in the four-day verification test, operating on full tanks and fully charged batteries. Traveling at speeds of 80-100 kph on highways and 40-60 kph on city and provincial roads, they followed the Northern Loop Route. Starting in Biñan, Laguna, both vehicles commenced in full EV mode before transitioning to hybrid mode as they navigated Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Aurora, and Nueva Ecija, eventually concluding at a refueling stop along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
In a true test of endurance, the J7 SHS tackled 200 kilometers of steep uphill and downhill terrains—conditions typically avoided in efficiency runs due to their impact on fuel consumption. Yet, the J7 SHS exceeded expectations, proving its efficiency and reliability in real-world driving conditions.
Exceptional Fuel Economy
Throughout the test, the J7 SHS recorded an outstanding average fuel consumption of 24.4 km/L. One unit achieved an exceptional range of 1,488.8 km, while the second covered 1,480.1 km. Even with remaining range estimates of 44 km and 24 km, respectively, the J7 SHS demonstrated remarkable consistency and endurance across varied terrain, solidifying its position as a top contender in the hybrid segment.
