MG stepped into the future at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with the reveal of two new electric vehicles that reflect a more forward-thinking, tech-driven direction for the brand. The new MG IM5 executive saloon and MG IM6 SUV bring together sleek design, advanced EV performance, and intuitive tech that caters to drivers looking for something more refined and future-ready.
These two models are the most advanced MGs to date, introduced under the “Intelligence in Motion” (IM) badge—a name that captures MG’s move toward smarter, more connected mobility. According to David Allison, MG’s Head of Product and Planning, “MG made EVs exciting and accessible with the Cyberster. Now, with the IM range, we’re stepping things up to offer something more sophisticated for drivers who want to experience tomorrow’s technology today.”
The IM5 Long Range model, in particular, makes a strong case for long-distance electric driving. It can cover up to 441 miles on a single charge, thanks to its 100 kWh battery, and it features a cutting-edge 800V system that recharges from 10 to 80 percent in just 17 minutes. It’s not just about efficiency either—performance is a big part of the story. The IM5 sprints from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, while the IM6 does it in 3.5, all thanks to powerful dual Hurricane motors and a digital chassis setup.

Inside, both cars are designed with a tech-first approach, offering a premium experience with thoughtful features like Rainy Night Mode and One-Touch Park Assist, which uses 360-degree cameras and driver-assist tech to handle tight parking. The IM5 even comes with rear-wheel turning, shrinking its turning circle to just under 10 metres—great for navigating city streets.
At the heart of the cabin is a massive 26.3-inch ultra-HD infotainment display, backed by a 10.5-inch touchscreen. A panoramic glass roof comes standard, and a 20-speaker audio system—complete with four ceiling-mounted speakers—delivers an immersive sound experience. Acoustic laminated windows keep things quiet and comfortable.
The IM5 line-up starts at £39,450 for the Standard 75 kWh version, going up to £48,495 for the 100 kWh Performance trim. The larger IM6 SUV starts at £47,995, with the top-spec Launch Edition priced at £52,995.

MG also gave the Cyberster convertible a fresh look at Goodwood. Dressed in a new Cyberster Black finish, the car features a premium matte black paint enhanced with glass flakes that shimmer when the car is in motion. Designed by Jozef Kaban, the look is finished off with sleek chrome accents and an all-black interior that’s both bold and elegant.
Alongside the Cyberster, MG revealed the Cyber X concept—a compact EV designed as a rugged, city-ready crossover. With a matte grey body, pop-up headlights, and a confident stance, Cyber X offers a glimpse at what could be next for MG’s more playful and design-led sub-brand.
Rounding out MG’s Goodwood highlights was the return of the EX4—a tribute to the iconic Metro 6R4 rally car. Reimagined with the MG4 XPower’s electric drivetrain and a custom livery created for the event, the EX4 brought a bit of retro charm and motorsport edge to the festival.
Together, these new models and concepts show how MG is evolving—keeping its roots in performance and style while pushing ahead with smart design and next-gen EV tech.
