For healthcare professionals, time is always of the essence — especially the hours spent traveling to and from the places where their expertise is most needed. Ideally, transportation should never be a source of stress, allowing them to arrive on time, fully prepared, and ready to care for their patients.

With this in mind, the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), together with the Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMP Foundation) and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), has launched a dedicated shuttle service designed to make the daily commute of healthcare workers safer and more convenient.

The initiative is part of the Healthcare Mobility For All (HEAL) program, which seeks to offer dependable and efficient transportation for medical staff — particularly those assigned to late-night or early-morning shifts when public transport options are scarce or unreliable.

To address this need, Toyota has deployed three units of the Toyota Tamaraw, purpose-built to serve PGH healthcare personnel. These shuttles will run along the hospital’s busiest commuter routes, including Fairview, Paliparan, and SM Dasma via Aguinaldo. Each vehicle can accommodate up to 12 passengers and is expected to complete at least two trips per day — one for staff heading home after their night duties and another for those reporting early for their morning shifts.

Set to operate from September 2025 until December 2026, the shuttle service aims to significantly improve accessibility and punctuality for PGH workers, especially during critical shifts. According to Toyota, the program is projected to deliver thousands of safe and reliable commutes throughout its duration, while also reducing travel time, operating costs, and vehicle emissions.

Beyond easing daily travel, the initiative is expected to further enhance safety and convenience for hospital staff, particularly those with limited transportation options during off-peak hours. Reliable mobility is seen as a crucial support system, helping healthcare professionals maintain peak performance in demanding hospital environments and enabling them to focus fully on patient care.

The project is made possible through the collaboration of several key partners: Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines as the mobility partner, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation as the engagement partner, and the Deloitte Future of Mobility Solution Centre as the development and implementation partner.
