Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Hypercar Set to Conquer Le Mans and Beyond

0

Aston Martin is reigniting its rich racing heritage with the Valkyrie Hypercar—an engineering marvel that bridges road and race like no other. With a legacy rooted in motorsport, Aston Martin is ready to challenge for overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and assert dominance in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA).

The Valkyrie, the only Hypercar derived from a road-legal production vehicle, is set for its global competition debut at the Qatar 1812Km on February 28, 2025.

A Return to Le Mans Glory

“For Aston Martin, competing for overall victory at Le Mans is more than just a goal—it’s our DNA,” says Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda. “With Valkyrie, we’re not just racing; we’re redefining endurance motorsport.”

Harry Tincknell, a previous Le Mans class winner, teams up with Tom Gamble in the #007 Valkyrie for WEC, while Marco Sørensen and Alex Riberas take charge of the #009. In IMSA, Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis pilot the #23 entry, reinforcing Aston Martin’s competitive strength across both series.

Hypercar Innovation Meets Racing Pedigree

The Valkyrie is more than a race car—it’s the pinnacle of performance. Developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies and The Heart of Racing (THOR), it boasts a reworked 6.5-liter Cosworth V12, advanced aerodynamics, and an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber chassis. With a power limit of 500kW (680bhp), endurance-optimized fuel efficiency, and a high-downforce design, Valkyrie is engineered for relentless competition.

“We’re bringing an entirely new level of road-to-race technology,” says Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport. “The Hypercar class is incredibly competitive, and Valkyrie is here to leave its mark.”

A Global Racing Campaign

The Valkyrie has undergone extensive testing, surpassing 15,000km across circuits in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. With two Valkyries in WEC and one in IMSA, Aston Martin is set to challenge premier endurance racing circuits, including Le Mans, Sebring, and Spa-Francorchamps.

As Aston Martin embarks on this new era, the Valkyrie is not just a competitor—it’s a statement. The journey begins in Qatar, and the goal is clear: victory at the highest level of endurance motorsport.
