Breaking Barriers: Grab Philippines Introduces Grab CommuniKit for Deaf Driver-Partners

In a major step toward inclusivity, Grab Philippines has launched the Grab CommuniKit, a simple yet powerful tool designed to bridge the communication gap between passengers and deaf driver-partners.

The Grab CommuniKit features easy-to-read postcards with common phrases used during GrabCar rides, covering essential topics such as navigation, drop-off points, and comfort preferences. Passengers can also use an included whiteboard and marker for personalized messages—making communication effortless and accessible.

Recognizing the importance of meaningful collaboration, Grab co-created this kit with DeafED Philippines, the National Association of Sign Language Interpreters, and its own community of PWD driver-partners. This ensures the kit meets the needs of deaf drivers while aligning with industry standards for inclusive communication.

Ronald Roda, Country Head of Grab Philippines, emphasized the company’s dedication to inclusivity: “We are committed to creating opportunities for everyone in the digital economy, ensuring that no one is left behind. The Grab CommuniKit empowers our deaf driver-partners, enabling them to thrive while delivering exceptional service to our passengers.”

For driver-partners like Vic Diaz, the Grab CommuniKit has been a game-changer. “It has made my interactions with passengers much easier. Whether it’s a fellow deaf passenger or a foreign rider, this kit helps me provide a better experience. It has truly transformed my daily drives.”

Designed for convenience, the Grab CommuniKit is compact and stored in the central console of GrabCar vehicles, ready for use whenever needed.

Grab Philippines invites passengers and driver-partners alike to support this initiative by embracing patience, understanding, and respect—one ride at a time.
