Chevron and Edukasyon.ph Empower 50 Filipinos to Pursue Careers in Cloud Technology

Through its continued partnership with Edukasyon.ph, Chevron has once again opened the doors of opportunity for unemployed and underemployed Filipinos by sponsoring a new batch of scholars for the AWS re/Start cloud computing program. All 50 students completed the training in April 2025, marking a milestone in their career development journeys.

The AWS re/Start program delivers a 9- to 12-week full-time training course that not only teaches technical cloud computing skills, but also nurtures professional behavior and workplace readiness. The initiative culminates in a career fair, which offers graduates a chance to connect with companies seeking skilled IT professionals. Participating employers this year included Chevron, Bayad Center, Kuehne + Nagel, Stratpoint, Boss Jobs, Promotexter, Software One, ECloud Valley, Absi, and Maverick.

Raissa Bautista, Senior Corporate Affairs Advisor at Chevron Philippines, highlighted the importance of second chances and lifelong learning. “This program completes a cycle—education, growth, and opportunity. It’s proof that even those who pause their journey can find their way back and succeed in this digital era,” she said.

Edukasyon.ph Strategic Account Manager Joshua Toquero echoed this sentiment, underscoring the collective effort behind each scholar’s progress. “No one has to walk this path alone. The success of our graduates reflects the power of community and collaboration,” he said.

Graduate Paolo Gio Espiritu shared his personal journey of resilience. After losing his job during the pandemic and facing a series of rejections, he was selected from over 1,500 applicants to join the AWS re/Start program and emerged as a topnotcher. “This was a breakthrough. Even at 33, I now have the skills and confidence to pursue my dream role in IT,” he said.

Fellow top graduate Nika Amorin recounted how she overcame personal challenges to complete the program. “There were days when I almost gave up. But through determination and the hands-on experience the course provided, I made it through,” she said.

AWS Philippines Country Manager Precious Lim praised Chevron’s commitment to digital skills development. “Cloud computing drives business transformation. Chevron’s support ensures more Filipinos are ready to participate in this shift and thrive in the digital economy,” she said, adding that her own early experience with Chevron laid the foundation for her current career.

Chevron’s sponsorship of AWS re/Start is part of its broader investment in Filipino talent and future-ready education. For more information on Chevron’s educational programs, visit www.chevron.com/worldwide/philippines.
