Chevron, a leading and long-standing US investor in the Philippines, in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), recently organized a leadership seminar for top-performing students from premier universities. The event included discussions led by the General Managers of Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) and Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI).

The participating students are part of the AmCham Business Leadership Program (BLP), which offers Filipino students extensive access to executives from leading companies in the Philippines. The BLP aims to deepen students’ understanding of the business’s role in national development and provide a broad perspective on global business and economic issues. The program selectively invites top university students to engage with American multinational companies’ contributions to the country.

Chevron, awarded as one of the “Best Companies to Work For” at the HR Asia Awards 2023, has consistently supported and sponsored BLP for the last 20 years.

Ethan Flowers, General Manager of CHI, provided insights into his career journey and team management strategies. Billy Liu, General Manager of CPI, discussed the importance of work-life balance.

“Skills like intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and analytical thinking are invaluable in your career, especially in large companies like Chevron,” said Ethan Flowers.

“We must prioritize our health and maintain a work-life balance to perform well at work,” added Billy Liu.

BLP alumni Tonie Miclat and Eds Bernardo also shared how the program aided their career development at Chevron. The session aimed to inspire and motivate current BLP students to persist in their career aspirations.

“We are pleased that our students can interact with Chevron executives, gaining insights that will inspire and motivate them in their career paths. We are grateful to Chevron for their continued partnership and for hosting this exclusive event,” said Pinky Jamili, Business Leadership Program Project Manager, AmCham Philippines.

“At Chevron, we are thrilled to mark our 20-year partnership with the BLP. Both CPI and CHI have engaged in enriching discussions with numerous talented Filipino students. We enjoy sharing our experiences and leadership knowledge, believing it will greatly benefit the students’ career development,” said Ethan Flowers.

The event also featured Chevron scholars from the University of the Philippines – Diliman and concluded with an office tour, allowing students to explore Chevron’s departments and meet its employees.
