Dongfeng Motors Philippines, through its local distributor Legado Motors Inc., recently held a business forum aimed at educating transport operators on the advantages of shifting to electric vehicles (EVs). The event, titled “EV TNVS or Taxi? We Got You!,” took place at the Dongfeng Motors showroom in Pasig City on October 11, 2025, drawing in transport operators, drivers, and entrepreneurs exploring the taxi business.

The discussions centered on the financial and environmental benefits of switching to EV taxis. Among the speakers was motivational coach Reymond Delos Reyes, who emphasized how investing in electric mobility can help operators achieve higher profitability and long-term business growth.

Giovanni Frias, Vice President for Operations at Dongfeng Motors Philippines, walked participants through a detailed cost comparison between electric vehicles and traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models. Based on their figures, EV taxis can save operators as much as P612,470 annually on fuel expenses—excluding additional savings from reduced maintenance costs.

A highlight of the event was the testimony from a representative of TaxiKo, a ride-hailing platform operated by Legado Motors. He shared his experience driving a Dongfeng E70 Pro EV taxi from Infanta, Quezon, to Pasig via the Marilaque Highway—a route known for its steep climbs and long stretches. Even after nearly nine hours of driving, the vehicle still had 30% battery charge left, demonstrating its range, efficiency, and reliability on challenging routes.

Representatives from major delivery and ride-hailing companies, including Lalamove and Xpress App, also joined the forum and expressed interest in adopting Dongfeng’s EVs for their partner fleets. Attendees were given the chance to test drive the Dongfeng E70 Pro and experience firsthand its quiet, smooth, and refined ride.

“Through initiatives like this, we continue to empower transport operators to make informed and forward-thinking business decisions. Our goal is not only to promote cleaner mobility but also to ensure long-term business success for our partners,” said Brennan Nathan Lim, Deputy CEO of Legado Motors Inc.

The event underscored Legado Motors’ growing role in promoting electric mobility solutions for the local TNVS and taxi industry.
