Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has mobilized a relief and emergency response mission in Cebu following the recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the region in late September. The powerful quake claimed lives, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted livelihoods across several northern towns. The initiative was carried out in partnership with Iconic Dealership Inc. (IDI), IPC’s Cebu-based dealer group.
According to local authorities, the earthquake left more than 70 people dead and affected over 170,000 residents, prompting the declaration of a state of calamity in multiple municipalities, including San Remigio.
In response, IPC and IDI deployed a convoy of Isuzu Mobile Medic trucks—normally used for on-site vehicle servicing—to deliver essential supplies to affected areas. These trucks were converted into emergency relief carriers to reach isolated communities, particularly Barangay Poblacion in San Remigio, one of the hardest-hit localities. Leading the operation were IPC Department Head for Dealer Sales Mario Ojales and Isuzu Mandaue Branch Head Eufemio Ybañez.
Ojales said that the initiative reflects Isuzu’s broader mission beyond its products. “We are committed not only to powering businesses but also to empowering lives, especially in times of crisis,” he noted. Ybañez added that the experience underscored the value of solidarity during difficult times. “It was heartwarming to see the community come together. We’re thankful to be part of a company that prioritizes compassion and concrete action,” he said.
Barangay Captain Rey Tamboboy of Poblacion, San Remigio, expressed gratitude to IPC and IDI for their swift response. “Their help brought immediate relief to our residents and renewed hope as we work to recover,” he shared.
The coordinated effort between IPC and its Cebu dealership underscores the company’s consistent involvement in disaster response. It reinforces Isuzu’s view that corporate social responsibility means going beyond vehicles—by providing genuine support to communities when it matters most.
