Kia Sonet Pilipinas Club Stages First Grand Meet in Celebration of SUV’s First Anniversary

A year after the local launch of the Kia Sonet, Kia Philippines, in partnership with the Kia Sonet Pilipinas Club, hosted the SUV’s largest owner gathering yet at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event brought together 60 Sonet units in a convoy from Alabang, showcasing not just a popular vehicle, but a dynamic and passionate community of owners.

Since its arrival in the country in June 2024, the Kia Sonet has consistently stood out for its practicality, comfort, and standout design, quickly earning the trust of Filipino drivers. Its widespread appeal has made it the brand’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines, with nearly one out of every four new B-segment SUVs now being a Sonet.

“The Sonet has found its audience—drivers who want modern design, intuitive features, and everyday usability,” said Jay Lopez, Managing Director of Kia Philippines. “And beyond the numbers, what makes this journey truly meaningful is the vibrant community that has formed around the vehicle.”

The event was more than a typical car meet. It was a celebration of shared ownership experiences, weekend road trips, personal milestones, and friendships formed along the way. From casual car talks to showcasing personalized vehicles, the atmosphere reflected the lifestyle the Sonet supports: connected, capable, and confident.

Among the club’s active members is Julienne Bonacua, who described her Sonet—fondly named “Pogi”—as her daily companion. “From shoots to road trips, the Sonet fits my routine perfectly. I even waited for the white unit I wanted—it was worth it,” she said.

The Kia Sonet Pilipinas Club, founded by owners for owners, now serves as a growing platform where users trade tips, share travel stories, and foster connections. Darrenz Genel, a member of the group, noted how his Sonet even became part of his wedding story. “I chose it for the manual option and the features. Meeting other owners at the grand meet gave me new ideas and a deeper appreciation for the car,” he shared.

The Sonet has also earned critical praise, being named “Underrated Car of the Year” by Top Gear Philippines and a top pick “As Your First Car” by AutoIndustriya. Its introduction of ADAS in its segment further elevates its reputation for smart, accessible motoring.

“This meet-up encapsulates what Kia wants to deliver—not just mobility, but meaningful ownership experiences,” Lopez added. “We’re proud to support communities like the Sonet Pilipinas Club as they continue to grow and evolve.”
