For Mazda Philippines, the road to success goes beyond vehicle sales and technological innovation. It lies in a broader purpose—building a sustainable future for people and the planet. This guiding principle fuels the brand’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, most recently embodied in the launch of the 1,500 Pangolin Project.
In collaboration with the Katala Foundation, Mazda aims to protect one of the country’s most endangered mammals, the Philippine Pangolin. Since 2020, this partnership has brought critical support to conservation efforts in Palawan, including habitat restoration, anti-poaching patrols, and public education campaigns.
This May, Mazda deepens its commitment through a new initiative that pledges ₱1,500 from every Mazda BT-50 sold to the Katala Foundation. The project is expected to make a tangible impact by funding rescue operations, awareness campaigns, and frontline conservation work over the next 12 months.
Dr. Sabine Schoppe, who leads the Katala Foundation’s pangolin conservation program, expressed gratitude for the support: “Mazda’s contribution empowers us to protect the species and inspire collective action for biodiversity.”
This announcement coincides with the introduction of the updated Mazda BT-50. Beyond its striking new design, the pickup now offers a host of new features including a 360-degree camera system with built-in recording, a refreshed infotainment interface, and enhanced materials throughout the cabin.
Under the hood, the BT-50 retains its 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine, delivering confident power and excellent fuel economy. With technologies like Hill Launch Assist and Rough Terrain Mode exclusive to the 4×4 Pangolin Edition, the BT-50 is built to handle any environment—urban or remote.
“This project is more than a corporate initiative—it’s a reflection of Mazda’s core values,” said Steven Tan, President of Mazda Philippines. “It’s our way of contributing to a cause that extends far beyond driving, toward a more sustainable world.”
