New NLEX Entry Point in Valenzuela Aims to Ease Traffic in Key Areas

Motorists in northern Valenzuela can soon expect smoother traffic flow with the opening of a new entry point to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), as the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and NLEX Corporation, in partnership with the local government and national agencies, formally inaugurate the NLEX Lingunan Southbound Entry.

Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) Regulation Division Chief Joz Carlos Ordillano, and NLEX Officer-in-Charge and MPTC Chief Finance Officer Luis Reñon led the ceremonial drive-through of the newly completed 491-meter one-lane ramp.

Set to open within the month, the Lingunan Southbound Entry is expected to help decongest the busy Valenzuela/Paso de Blas Interchange, where several major roads intersect. The new access is seen to benefit the nearby barangays of Lawang Bato, Lingunan, Punturin, Canumay East, and Canumay West by offering a faster and more convenient route to the expressway.

“This new entry ramp is part of our ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and provide better accessibility to motorists,” said Reñon. “It not only supports mobility in Valenzuela but also helps local businesses move goods and services more efficiently, reinforcing the city’s role as a key industrial and commercial hub. We’re also looking into building more entry and exit ramps as part of our long-term expansion and road-widening plans to further ease congestion in and around NLEX.”

Reñon noted that while the project was originally scheduled for completion in five months, the NLEX team finished it in just four—one month ahead of schedule. The initiative is a collaboration between NLEX Corporation and the City Government of Valenzuela, with the support of the Toll Regulatory Board.

Mayor Gatchalian expressed his appreciation to MPTC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, NLEX Corporation, and the TRB for their support. “Nais kong pasalamatan si MPTC Chairman Manuel Pangilinan (MVP), ang pamunuan ng NLEX Corporation at Toll Regulatory Board sa kanilang pakikipagtulungan sa proyektong ito,” he said. “Sa pagbubukas nito, magkakaroon ng bago, mas mabilis, at mas convenient na alternatibong daanan para sa mga motorista ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela.”

During the construction period, NLEX implemented its standard traffic management protocols to ensure safety and minimal disruption for road users.

The Lingunan Southbound Entry marks Valenzuela City’s fifth access point to NLEX, joining existing interchanges in Karuhatan, Mindanao Avenue, Paso de Blas, and Lawang Bato.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the tollway arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
