New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the private operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has opened the main arrival curbside at Terminal 1 to all private vehicles, ending its previous VIP-only restriction. This move marks a significant step toward enhancing convenience and inclusivity for arriving passengers and their families.
The newly accessible curbside is part of NNIC’s broader initiative to streamline traffic flow and improve the passenger experience at one of the airport’s busiest terminals. By allowing all passengers to use the main arrival curbside, the reconfiguration simplifies pickups for private vehicles, ride-hailing services, and metered taxis while reducing congestion.
The updated pickup system is currently in its soft launch phase, providing passengers and transport providers an opportunity to adjust to the new arrangement. During this phase, NNIC will gather feedback and fine-tune operations to ensure a seamless transition ahead of full implementation.
Key Features of the New Pickup System
The main arrival curbside now boasts 14 designated loading bays (A1 to A14):
- Bays A8 and A9 are reserved for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
- Bays A11 and A12 remain designated for VIP pickups.
- Bays A13 and A14 cater to hotel transport services.
These changes offer passengers more convenient pickup options, allowing them to wait comfortably at the main arrival curbside. Additionally, Terminal Transfer shuttle bus services will operate from this area, with stops located near Bay A14.
To further streamline operations, the outer curbside (B1 to B6) has been designated as an additional pickup area, featuring a dedicated Meet and Greet Zone. Grab ride-hailing booths are strategically placed in this section for quick and easy booking options.
Public transport services such as rent-a-car providers, coupon taxis, and yellow metered taxis have been relocated to the arrival extension area on the ground level. This adjustment aims to reduce congestion at the main terminal curbside while maintaining reliable transport access for passengers.
Enhancing Passenger Experience
To ensure a smooth transition, clear directional signage is being installed throughout the terminal, and airport personnel will be on hand to assist passengers and drivers. NNIC encourages travelers and visitors to follow the updated system for a more efficient and hassle-free arrival experience.
This initiative underscores NNIC’s commitment to modernizing NAIA Terminal 1 and elevating its standards to better serve the needs of the traveling public.
