Championing women in aviation has been a cornerstone of Philippine Airlines’ efforts for decades. In 1989, Aimee Carandang-Gloria made history as the first woman pilot in Southeast Asia to fly a commercial airline. She continued to break new ground in 1993, becoming the region’s first female airline captain.
At present, over 80 women serve as pilots at PAL, making up 9% of the total pilot workforce. Yet, women still represent only 6% of pilots globally.
In response to this, PAL has introduced the “Fly With Her” Program, in partnership with PAL Foundation, to increase female participation in the airline’s pilot roster. This initiative aligns with PAL’s dedication to diversity and gender equality in aviation, while also supporting PAL Foundation’s mission to provide educational scholarships that foster societal growth.
