Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently brought the adrenaline of motorsports to aspiring racers through the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines (TGRA) at Clark International Speedway. Designed to make racing more accessible, the program gave participants firsthand experience behind the wheel, honing their skills on a professional racetrack.
The day kicked off with essential racing knowledge, covering track safety, car control, and braking techniques. As the program progressed, participants put theory into action through hands-on track exercises. The slalom challenge tested agility, while the “follow the leader” drill allowed them to master the racing line on Clark’s demanding corners and straights.
The event drew an enthusiastic mix of motorsports fans and first-time track drivers:
- Karis Alexandra Santos, a karting enthusiast, noted the difference between karting and car racing: “I wanted to try a car to see the difference. It’s almost the same, but the car is bigger—and for me, even more fun!”
- Nemuel Obas, a lifelong racing fan, jumped at the chance: “I’ve loved cars and motorsports since I was a kid. I’m fascinated by how they work, so I signed up as soon as I saw the opportunity.”
- Miguel Corrales was surprised by how immersive the experience was: “I thought we’d only do basic drills like braking and avoiding cones, but we actually got to lap the track at good speeds!”
- Javi Rios, encouraged by his children, fulfilled a lifelong dream: “I’ve always wanted to drive on a real track, and this program gave me that chance while improving my skills.”
- Ella Nicole Bornilla, a passionate advocate for women in racing, shared: “I want to break barriers in this traditionally male-dominated sport. TGRA is the perfect platform to turn this passion into action.”

According to Andy Ty, TMP’s Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services, TGRA is about making motorsports more accessible: “We’re excited to hold more batches of TGRA this year, and we invite more racing fans to join us in the next sessions.”
Launched in 2014, TGRA has trained many aspiring racers, with some progressing to professional competitions like the TGR Philippine Cup—TMP’s premier racing series.
Motorsports fans can experience more high-speed action at Race Weekend 1 of the TGR Philippine Cup on March 22, 2025, at Clark International Speedway. Admission is free.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines is accredited by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and supported by Petron (Official Fuel & Lubricants Partner), GT Radial (Official Tire Partner), and other sponsors.
