VinAI’s DrunkSense Sets a New Standard for Drunk Driving Prevention

VinAI’s DrunkSense has been recognized with the 2025 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award by the Business Intelligence Group, underscoring its role as a game-changing innovation in road safety.

Unlike conventional breathalyzer-based systems, DrunkSense is the first AI-powered technology that detects intoxication without driver interaction. By continuously monitoring driver behavior, in-cabin signals, and ambient alcohol levels, it enables real-time alerts and intervention—setting a new benchmark for preventing impaired driving.

The judging panel called DrunkSense a “transformative force in road safety”, praising its ability to help automakers comply with upcoming regulations like the 2026 EU NCAP standards and 2027 NHTSA requirements in the U.S.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Vuong Cap, Deputy CEO at VinAI. “DrunkSense is proof that AI can go beyond traditional methods, providing a smarter, more effective way to detect intoxication and protect lives.”

DrunkSense is part of VinAI’s InteriorSense suite, a collection of in-cabin AI technologies designed for enhanced safety. Testing has shown that the system successfully detects and warns in 70% of cases, reinforcing its potential to reduce accidents.

VinAI’s automotive AI solutions are already integrated into 80,000 vehicles, with plans to scale up to 800,000 in the next five years, accelerating the industry’s shift toward AI-driven safety innovations.
