Volvo Cars has been named the recipient of the 2025 Sandy Myhre Award by Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY), celebrating its pioneering role in promoting gender equality and championing women’s contributions to the automotive industry.

The Sandy Myhre Award, named after the esteemed New Zealand motoring journalist and founder of WWCOTY, honors manufacturers that lead the way in workplace diversity, inclusive product design, and representation in advertising. It is the only automotive award judged exclusively by women—82 respected motoring journalists from 55 countries, reaching a global audience of over 500 million.
For Volvo, inclusivity isn’t just a corporate value—it’s a legacy. The company has been at the forefront of safety research for over 50 years, ensuring that innovations protect everyone equally. In 1995, Volvo became one of the first automakers to use female crash test dummies, and in 2002, it introduced “Linda,” a revolutionary virtual pregnant crash test dummy that simulates the effects of collisions on expectant mothers and their babies.
