VolvoPH Advances Road Safety Through “Voice of Volvo” Master Class Series

Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official importer and distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, has formally launched the Voice of Volvo: Road Safety Master Class—an initiative that underscores the brand’s longstanding commitment to safety, aligned with Volvo’s global “Vision Zero” campaign.

The first session, themed “Driving a Safer Future: An Ecosystem Approach to Road Safety,” assembled a panel of distinguished experts representing the public and private sectors. Among the speakers were Senator Sherwin Gatchalian; Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Dioscoro Reyes; Dr. Jose Bienvenido M. Biona, Executive Director of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines; and Dr. Grace Gorospe-Jamon, a respected academic in governance and social development. The session was moderated by award-winning journalist Rico Hizon.

Discussions centered on the current barriers to road safety in the Philippines, including disjointed policy implementation, behavioral issues among road users, lack of safety infrastructure, and insufficient integration of modern safety technologies. The panel emphasized the importance of a unified, multi-sectoral strategy to address these gaps.

“As an advocate for sustainable mobility, Volvo Philippines recognizes the urgent need to address these systemic issues,” stated HARI Vice Chairman, President, and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo. “We are committed to helping drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration in the pursuit of safer roads for all Filipinos.”

In line with this advocacy, HARI announced the establishment of the Volvo Urban Living Mobility Safety Laboratory or Volvo Safety Lab, a partnership with De La Salle University. The lab will serve as a platform for research and pilot programs focused on community-based safety solutions.

The initiative is further strengthened by partnerships with the Department of Transportation, EVAP, and key mobility stakeholders, positioning Voice of Volvo as a cornerstone in the company’s broader vision for inclusive, long-term safety leadership in the Philippines.

Through this effort, Volvo Philippines sets a precedent in fostering nationwide dialogue and action on road safety, paving the way for impactful, community-focused outcomes that align with both public interest and global best practices.
