BYD CarsPH, ACMobility Partner to Equip Valenzuela City with Largest EV Police Fleet in the Philippines

BYD Cars Philippines, in collaboration with ACMobility, is taking a major step towards advancing the environmental goals of Valenzuela City with the signing of a contract to provide 41 BYD Dolphin electric vehicles (EVs) to the city’s police force. Supplied by BYD Greenfield, this initiative makes Valenzuela the first Local Government Unit (LGU) in the Philippines to operate an electric vehicle police fleet, marking a significant milestone in the country’s EV adoption.

This sustainable mobility project supports Valenzuela’s commitment to enhancing security while embracing cleaner technologies. It is in line with the city’s broader sustainability goals and adheres to the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act and Republic Act No. 1285, which aim to promote the integration of EVs into government operations.

“By eliminating fuel costs and drastically lowering maintenance expenses, the BYD Dolphin enables Valenzuela City to potentially save up to 70% of its fleet’s operational and maintenance budget over the next five years,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “With zero tailpipe emissions, the BYD Dolphin is a cost-effective and eco-friendly investment for the city.”

Valenzuela City, an industrial hub, has long prioritized sustainability through initiatives such as its materials recovery facility, composting programs, and the Clean & Green project. The addition of BYD Dolphins to its police fleet is the latest step in its journey toward environmental responsibility, reducing the city’s reliance on fossil fuels and improving air quality.

“We are honored that Valenzuela City has chosen BYD and the BYD Dolphin for its police fleet,” said Lovelyn Labrador, Deputy General Manager for Corporate Services at BYD Philippines. “This partnership showcases how local governments can effectively fulfill their duties while embracing sustainability and reducing environmental impact.”

With the largest EV police fleet in the country, Valenzuela is setting the standard for the future of electrified transportation in public service. This bold move significantly reduces the city’s carbon footprint and brings Valenzuela closer to its goal of cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions.

To support this transition, ACMobility will install 20 7kW and 2 22kW electric vehicle chargers throughout the city, ensuring seamless operation of the EV police fleet.

“By transforming our police fleet to electric vehicles, we aim to set a powerful example for private businesses, communities, and individuals to reconsider their transportation choices,” said Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian, Mayor of Valenzuela City. “We recognize that this vision will take time to fully realize, but today, we take the first step toward a cleaner future, where progress and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.”
