Globe is collaborating with Grab to empower Filipino women through the Misiskolar Program, offering digital upskilling opportunities and new livelihood avenues for the spouses of Grab driver-partners.
As part of this partnership, Globe will sponsor Essential Skills and Virtual Assistance courses, developed with edutech firm KodeGo, for an initial cohort of 100 Grab driver-partners, delivery-partners, and their spouses. These scholars will have full access to courses focused on developing in-demand digital skills.
“We recognize the crucial role women play in driving progress for their families and communities. Through our partnership with Grab and KodeGo, we aim to provide women with digital skills that enhance employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and improve livelihood opportunities. By equipping women with these skills, we hope to boost their confidence and empower them to realize their potential,” said Crisela Magpayo-Cervantes, Globe’s VP for Marketing Communications.
Patricia Gaw, KodeGo Venture Builder, added, “KodeGo is excited to participate in this initiative, opening doors for Filipino women. Our programs are designed to make digital skills training affordable and accessible, providing end-to-end support to help our students launch successful tech careers.”
The Misiskolar Program embodies Globe and Grab’s shared vision of uplifting lives by creating growth opportunities for Grab’s driver community and their families.
A DICT study on Gender Perspectives and E-Livelihood highlighted that non-internet users often cite a lack of knowledge and the high cost of subscriptions and equipment as barriers. Globe, recognizing this digital divide’s impact on Filipinos’ ability to improve their lives, is collaborating with partners like Grab and KodeGo to bring digital skill-building programs that offer new opportunities for enhancing daily lives.
“Our goal is to make every Filipino an active participant in the digital economy. A key element of this mission is our focus on inclusive capacity-building,” said CJ Lacsican, Grab Philippines Head of Operations. “The Misiskolar Program aims to make a transformative impact on the livelihoods and social progress of our driver-partners and their families through accessible digital upskilling. We are pleased to partner with Globe on this program, sharing the vision of creating a brighter digital future for Filipino communities.”
Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, emphasized Globe’s dedication to using digital technology to address social issues, especially education and women empowerment. “Globe’s partnership with Grab highlights our commitment to providing tech-enabled education to uplift lives and make a real difference. This program aligns with our dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, prioritizing women’s advancement as a key part of our corporate agenda.”
