Homegrown motorcycle taxi company MOVE IT is proud to announce the renewal and strengthening of its strategic partnerships with the HONDA Safety Driving Center and the Philippine Red Cross. These collaborations are part of MOVE IT’s ongoing commitment to safety, focusing on skills assessment, capacity-building, and emergency response programs.

Partnership with HONDA Safety Driving Center

MOVE IT has further strengthened its partnership with HONDA through a comprehensive training series dedicated to its team of trainers, assessors, and safety program designers. This collaboration, ongoing since 2022, includes intensive training across three core courses aimed at certifying participants as road safety instructors and assessors:

  1. Motorcycle Skills Certification (Intermediate to Advanced Courses)
    – Focuses on assessing road safety awareness and professional driving skills.
  1. Safety Riding Course
     – Enriches instructors’ road safety mindset and knowledge on responsible road use.
  1. Basic Motorcycle Troubleshooting
    – Teaches how to ascertain vehicle roadworthiness.

Upon completion, MOVE IT trainers and assessors implement the company’s mandatory skills and vehicle assessment program for prospective rider-partners. These trainers also vet aspiring rider-partners who proceed to the Driver Guidelines Orientation and Training, designed following principles set by the HONDA Road Safety team, ensuring compliance with government standards.

Additionally, the MOVE IT team engages in courses on analytical driving, motorcycle dynamics, and practical application of motorcycle handling, corrective riding posture, and traffic rules. MOVE IT has co-developed road safety courses with the HONDA Safety Driving Center, integrated into its orientation process and accessible through the MOVE IT Academy in-app learning platform.

Enhanced Emergency Response with Philippine Red Cross

MOVE IT has also reinforced its partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to enhance its Emergency Response Unit (ERU). This advanced training program is designed for volunteer rider leaders and a dedicated contingent from the MOVE IT team, focusing on emergency preparedness and response, including Emergency Action Principles, Basic First Aid, Environmental Emergencies, and Special Situations.

After completing the training, ERU members undergo further evaluation before being deployed as emergency responders. The ERU addresses road incidents reported via the MOVE IT Hotline, in-app Safety Center, or Emergency SOS Button, providing comprehensive on-site support and communication with riders, passengers, and their families. They administer basic first aid when necessary, deferring to professional medics for full medical attention.

“Safety remains a cornerstone of our operations. We are committed to constantly enhancing and advancing our programs, aiming to cultivate a fleet of rider-partners who are not only equipped with essential safety skills but also foster a safety-first mindset,” shares MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto. “By forging strategic collaborations with esteemed organizations in road safety and emergency response, we continuously evolve our training and assessment program blueprint, aligning with globally recognized certification and training standards,” adds Jacinto.

“We are thankful for collaborations with organizations such as HONDA Safety Driving Center and the Philippine Red Cross, for these deepen our industrial knowledge – allowing us to better our service to every passenger and heighten our commitment to safety,” notes Jacinto.
