In response to sustained increases in fuel prices, Grab Philippines has announced a platform-wide resilience plan designed to protect its driver-, rider-, and delivery-partners while maintaining affordability for passengers.
“The current environment places significant strain on transport providers,” said Ronald Roda, Managing Director of Grab Philippines. “Our immediate priority is to extend targeted support that helps our partners manage costs, while also laying the groundwork for a more adaptable transport ecosystem.”
Central to this response is the Fuel Resilience Package, which offers active partners access to exclusive fuel discounts through participating stations. These new measures build on existing tools like GrabMaps for efficient trip-matching and in-app driving guides aimed at reducing fuel consumption.
Grab is also in discussions with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to facilitate the rollout of fuel subsidies, particularly for TNVS and motorcycle taxi drivers, leveraging digital payment channels like GrabPay to ensure timely disbursement.
To ensure affordability remains intact, the company is maintaining access to budget-friendly options such as GrabCar Saver, while continuing to promote GrabUnlimited, a value-driven subscription service offering consistent savings across the platform.
Beyond short-term measures, Grab is accelerating its electric mobility efforts. The recent deployment of its GrabTaxi Electric fleet in Metro Manila marks a key step in expanding its EV footprint nationwide. These initiatives are designed to work in tandem with existing fuel infrastructure, not replace it, to provide long-term energy diversification.
“We envision a transport ecosystem where both traditional and electric options coexist to support mobility across the country,” Roda said. “By investing in multiple solutions, we’re creating a more stable future for our partners and the communities we serve.”
With tens of thousands of partners nationwide, Grab remains focused on enabling access, income, and operational efficiency. Its fuel resilience plan is part of a broader mission to enhance the platform’s responsiveness in the face of external shocks.
“As we navigate uncertainty in the global energy market, Grab is committed to taking proactive steps to ensure both livelihoods and essential mobility remain protected,” Roda concluded.
