As we step into 2025, Honda, through the Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) — operators of the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) — have entered into a pivotal partnership with Tamang Ride PH, a road safety advocacy movement spearheaded by A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture (ACTION), Incorporated.
The Tamang Ride movement will serve as a comprehensive platform, amplifying customers’ voices on road safety while fostering active involvement in safety awareness initiatives. This collaboration is focused on promoting safe driving and riding practices for children and beginners, with ACTION’s long-standing mission to aid the Filipino population, particularly the underserved. ACTION’s established partnerships with institutions such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) enhance its reach, especially among the most vulnerable sectors of society. The Tamang Ride PH movement is set to officially launch in May 2025.
As an industry leader in road safety education, Honda will contribute valuable road safety skills training materials to Tamang Ride PH. Additionally, Honda has made a significant contribution of PhP 1 million to support the development of the Tamang Ride App, aimed at enhancing road safety awareness and participation. The platform will host a range of content, including educational resources, advocacy materials, road safety events, and personal testimonials from road users. The partnership will also support the collection of road crash data, aligning with Honda’s existing collaboration with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) since July 2023. The ultimate goal is to protect Filipino families, particularly children aged 3 to 7 years, teens aged 13 to 17, and beginner riders.
Moreover, HPI will fully collaborate with ACTION to create an educational module for Tamang Ride, contributing PhP 980,000 in funding. The Honda Safety Driving Center will provide expertise through the “Kids on Safety” and “Teen Smart” programs, as well as lead the “Training the Trainers” initiative and pilot run later this year.
Since its inception in 2008, the Honda Safety Driving Center has remained committed to promoting global road safety through its “SAFETY FOR EVERYONE” campaign, and locally, the “SAFETY FOR OUR FAMILY” campaign in the Philippines. The HSDC, a state-of-the-art facility in Paranaque City, serves as an essential venue for motorcycle riders and automobile drivers to cultivate a road safety mindset and acquire key driving skills. Through partnerships with both public and private organizations, HSDC aims to raise road safety awareness and improve driving proficiency, including its “Students on Safety” programs for children and teens.
In December 2024, Honda further reinforced its commitment to road safety by announcing a multi-year partnership with the United Nations to reduce global road traffic fatalities. This makes Honda the first vehicle manufacturer to join the UN’s global partnership aimed at halving traffic deaths by 2030. In the Philippines, the collaboration with Tamang Ride PH is a significant step towards reducing road crashes and working towards the ambitious goal of zero road crashes by 2050.
Guided by Honda’s global brand slogan, “The Power of Dreams – How We Move You; Create, Transcend, and Augment,” Honda continues to innovate mobility solutions that transcend the limitations of time and place, augmenting every possibility. As a Road Safety Ambassador, Honda remains committed to creating safer communities for families and future generations.
