NLEX Corporation recently held the 8th leg of its “See Clearly, Drive Safely” initiative by providing an early Christmas gift to 100 bus drivers. As part of this program, the drivers received complimentary eye consultations, visual accuracy examinations, refraction tests, and screenings for eye diseases.
The initiative benefitted selected drivers from the Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas, Inc. (NSNPBPI), with participants representing Baliwag Transit, Bataan Transit, Cisco Bus, Genesis Transport, Pangasinan Five Star Bus Company, and Victory Liner. In addition, free reading and prescription eyeglasses were provided to those in need, helping to ensure their vision is optimal for safe driving.
“Since we launched the ‘See Clearly, Drive Safely’ initiative in 2017, NLEX has been committed to promoting clear vision for our drivers as part of our broader goal of enhancing road safety,” stated Ms. Frances Ruth Dela Cruz, Assistant Vice President for Customer Experience and Marketing at NLEX Corporation. She emphasized that maintaining clear eyesight, alongside adhering to road safety practices and traffic laws, is integral to responsible driving and significantly contributes to reducing road accidents.
NSNPBPI Executive Director Alex Yague remarked on the program’s positive impact, saying, “Programs like these encourage our drivers to prioritize their eye health, especially since the services are free. We thank NLEX for emphasizing the health of our drivers.”
Bataan Transit driver Emmanuel M. Sapia-an expressed his gratitude for receiving new prescription glasses, stating, “It’s a significant relief to have new glasses provided for free. Thank you so much! It makes driving more comfortable and clearer for us.”
Since its inception in 2017, the “See Clearly, Drive Safely” program has benefited nearly a thousand transport drivers across various groups and communities, enhancing their access to vital eye care. This initiative highlights NLEX’s commitment to fostering good eyesight as a key factor in safeguarding drivers and everyone on the road.
