Harley-Davidson and MotoGP to launch global racing series in 2026

Harley-Davidson and MotoGP have announced the launch of a new international racing championship set to debut in 2026. The series will feature race-prepared Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycles and will run across six MotoGP Grand Prix weekends in Europe and North America, with two races scheduled per round for a total of twelve races.

The motorcycles, developed by Harley-Davidson Factory Racing, are purpose-built for high-performance competition. Each unit weighs approximately 280 kilograms (617 pounds), delivers over 200 horsepower and 245 Nm (180 lb-ft) of torque, and is capable of reaching speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph). All entries will use identical machinery to ensure closely matched competition. The inaugural grid is expected to include six to eight teams, each fielding two riders, with technical and operational support from Harley-Davidson Factory Racing.

“This represents a bold new direction for Harley-Davidson’s global racing ambitions,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President, and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “For over 120 years, we have consistently advanced performance, both on the road and track. Our involvement in the MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers series and recent product innovations such as the CVO RR and CVO Road Glide ST have demonstrated our commitment to performance. We believe this new championship will resonate with riders and fans alike, and we are proud to introduce a new level of racing excitement to the global stage.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, the exclusive commercial and television rights holder for MotoGP, added: “This collaboration presents a unique opportunity for both Harley-Davidson and MotoGP. Harley-Davidson will benefit from MotoGP’s international platform, while we gain a globally recognized partner with deep cultural influence in motorcycling. Together, we will deliver a compelling new addition to the Grand Prix calendar, attracting new audiences and enhancing the weekend experience for fans.”

Further details, including the official race calendar and broadcast information, will be shared in due course. Teams and sponsors interested in participating or exploring partnership opportunities are encouraged to contact: factoryracing@harley-davidson.com.
